New Data Science Track (Starting Oct. 2017)
Data Science is the fastest growth area in Computer Science
We will offer a Data Science track as an option in our Computer Professionals Master's Program with the October 2017 entry. This track will include the following core courses:
- Big Data
- Big Data Technologies
- Big Data Analytics
- Machine Learning
Some of these courses are available to current students.
Supporting courses that everyone in this track should take (or waive) include:
- Web Application Programming
- Database Management Systems
Additional requirements for entering this track
In addition to regular program requirements, because Data Science has a strong analytic math/statistics emphasis, students interested in this track should indicate their interest as part of their application.
To be accepted to the Data Science track, students should ideally have a GRE quantitative score in the 70th percentile (158) or above. Students without a GRE will be considered if their grades and math background are sufficiently strong.
Applicants must also have sufficient mathematics courses on their transcript, including at a minimum, calculus and probability, and ideally also linear algebra and statistics.
